Need help from a business coach near you?
A business coach helps owners and leaders improve practical skills, clarify strategy and deliver measurable business outcomes. At UK Business Mentoring, we combine hands-on commercial experience with structured coaching: goal-setting, accountability, and regular progress reviews.
Our coaches’ expertise spans various aspects of business, including strategy development, team building, performance improvement, and leadership training, ensuring comprehensive support for business success. The work we do may also have a positive impact on your personal attributes, such as social interaction and confidence.
There are 3 main ways we can target where coaching is required.
The first is through the business owners themselves identifying areas they are having difficulty with. Your own experiences will tailor your coach’s approach, targeting the types of issues you are facing, and ultimately, how we can help improve your skills to overcome these issues.
The second is through observation. We listen to what is going on in the business and watch not only what is happening, but also how the team is reacting. This can sometimes lead to your coach positively suggesting areas that the business owner might need help with.
The third (and very best) way is to ask us to conduct a full review of your business first; that way, we can make an independent assessment and agree on a plan that tackles any weaknesses. Sometimes, a fresh pair of eyes from someone away from the business can help identify issues more easily.
Absolutely. We sign a confidentiality and exclusivity agreement so you can be assured the review is highly confidential between just the client and coach, and that we will not work with a competitor business within an agreed distance.
We also process personal data under GDPR and will provide a data-processing notice on engagement.
Choosing UK Business Mentoring means partnering with a team of seasoned professionals dedicated to your success.
"As a firm of corporate finance advisers, we've been working with Paul (Clarke) for several years now. His coaching with us comprises monthly one-on-one sessions with myself and my business partner, plus a session with the three of us together; both types of sessions are very valuable in their own distinct ways."
"Our team comprises two partners and three staff, so 'people issues' (recruitment, training, development, work allocation etc) are a perennial item on the agenda for our monthly meetings with Paul; he is excellent at providing an impartial, insightful, external perspective, helping us to 'look down' on our own business with more clarity. Paul also provides creative input in the areas of client service, productivity, marketing and business development."
"A particular skill of Paul's that I would highlight is his ability to recognise our reality, namely that my business partner and I always feel that we are at 'full capacity' with our 'day jobs'; Paul is nevertheless able to lift us up and get us focused on a small number of high-impact actions; areas of improvement for the next month that we can execute despite the busy-ness."
"Since the start of the year, the partnership between Bank of Ireland for Intermediaries and UK Business Mentoring has delivered exceptional value to the intermediary market across the UK. Central to this success are Joe Hinton and Paul Clarke, whose coaching sessions are both insightful and highly engaging. "
"Joe’s practical wisdom and approachable style, paired with Paul’s strategic clarity and motivational delivery, create a powerful learning experience. Their sessions consistently inspire confidence and provide actionable tools for business growth. This collaboration stands as a model for how financial services and mentoring can work hand-in-hand to drive meaningful, long-term impact and a project I am proud to be working on."
"Working with Jim as both a business coach and mentor has been truly transformative. From the very beginning, I was highly impressed by Jim's extensive knowledge and expertise, not only in the realm of leadership but also from a broader business perspective. His understanding of effective leadership practices goes beyond mere theory, offering actionable insights that have allowed me to develop my leadership abilities and navigate complex situations with confidence."
"What truly sets Jim apart is his exceptional capacity to inspire and motivate, while simultaneously challenging my perspectives and gently pushing me outside of my comfort zone. Through his guidance, I have been able to develop my leadership skills, and personal growth has become inevitable."
"During the time I've spent working with Jim, he has consistently demonstrated his availability and unwavering support. Whether it's through face-to-face meetings, phone conversations, or email, Jim has always been there to provide invaluable advice and guidance. His professionalism and integrity shine through in every interaction, leaving no doubt about his genuine concern for my success and the overall success of the business."
