Hi, I’m Nigel Browne.

When you’re running a business, it can be tough finding time to focus on the big picture. The day-to-day demands of the job can make it almost impossible to keep up with this ever-changing business environment. Let alone stay ahead of the competition.

Many companies don’t look at what they need to do to make their business succeed. And with Covid-19 adding to a difficult 2020 in the South West, it’s hardly surprising.

But despite the changing landscape and the recent pandemic, the basics of running a business remain the same – maximising profits.

This is where a business mentor fits in. An increasing number of business owners are choosing to invest in a mentor to grow their companies and increase sales – from large corporations to one-man bands.

And the sector best placed to gain the most from mentoring is SME businesses. The right mentor brings the skills, expertise and know-how to take you to the next level.

It’s my job to get to know you and your business, understand where you are now, and where you want to be. What is your dream for your business? What’s the vision? What are your goals? Frustrations? Worries?

My job is to understand all of these and help you get to where you want to be.

Here’s why I’m the man to do this.

I love living here, which is why I set up the local franchise for UK Business Mentoring. After travelling extensively across Europe for work, I seized this opportunity to spend more time in the region, share my expertise with other local business owners, and make a difference in the region.

I’ve lived in the South West for 25 years. Raising my family here and running my own local business. I also serve on the Executive Committee of the Weston-super-Mare Chamber of Commerce. So I’m well positioned to understand the area’s unique business landscape.

Commercially, the area is diverse in both size and type of business. The city of Bristol attracts large corporations and Bath supports an eclectic mix of independent traders. In rural Somerset, there’s a high proportion of sole traders offering a mix of service and manufacturing businesses. And our beautiful coastal regions have a large tourism and hospitality sector.

This is what makes my job so rewarding. I love the challenges this commercial diversity brings. And every day I get to apply what I’ve learnt over 35 years to a wide variety of unique businesses.

And there is a strong spirit of cooperation in this region that I can help you tap into. My contacts will widen your business network so you can benefit from their support too.

I’m often referred to as your “unreasonable friend”. Which is pretty accurate! Your ‘friend’, in that I have your best interests at heart and I am there to help you. But ‘unreasonable’ because I’ll ask you awkward questions and challenge your thinking.

With such a wide commercial experience, and having run my own business, I’m well placed to guide you on your journey to achieving your vision. I may be your unreasonable friend, but I’ll help you get to where you want to be.

I’d love to have an initial chat, learn more about you and your business, and see how we could work together.

So give me a call and let’s get started.

After a couple of months of mentoring, I had a clear idea of what I want to achieve and a solid way forward. Nigel will help you clarify that which is most important, he too will congratulate and confirm your decisions, but question those that need more thought. Its good to know you can get a reality check from someone who only wants your success, because it’s his too. Jacqui Seager Director of Amvill Technologies."

  • "We have been working with Nigel for the last few months and have to stay that a steady, helpful and informative mentor has assisted in the choices that we are making. The depth of experience and the ability to challenge our thinking is one of the main reason we would recommend UK Business Mentoring. For ourselves it is early days, but the value provided so far has been considerable and well worth the investment in time and money."

    Business Mentoring

We like to describe ourselves as your ‘challenging friend’ someone who is on your side, to support, help and encourage you but who will also tell it to you straight. Our role is to enable you to achieve your goals and help along the way with any challenges or obstacles that come up on the journey. We work with a lot of our clients for years, some over ten years, they appreciate having the support of an experienced business person who is available to them to discuss issues of any nature.

    Strategic Planning

For many business owners, strategic planning is something that they rarely seem to get around to. Our role here is to discuss and agree with you on what do you want from the business personally and what the business needs to achieve to enable that. Once we have the ‘Destination’ set, we can work with you to agree on how this should be achieved, what needs to be done, benchmarks to be achieved and an overall plan to monitor progress.
