Modern psychology is currently researching the impact of positive psychology on people’s self-esteem.
At least one of their findings can make a difference in the world of business. Especially for business owners who feel that it is lonely at the top. We tend to think of ourselves as business leaders in the sense of ‘I’ for example;
‘I need to turn this business around’
‘I am responsible for my staff’
Research is showing that the use of ‘I’ is causing great uncertainty in people due to overwhelming sense of responsibility. Much time and money is spent on Leadership Development courses however often it is not the lack of leadership skills that is the challenge – it is being on your own that is key.
The way to remediate this sense of overwhelm is to change ‘I’ to ‘we’.
In a sense it shares the responsibility and therefore does not seem this overwhelming. One way to change it to a ‘we’ is by engaging a Business Mentor. A Business mentor will be there to support you through the day-to-day running of your business or when times are challenging.
“We are stronger together” the motto sounds. Many business owners are finding this to be true with the current challenging business environment where collaboration is growing stronger all the time. Whilst collaboration is a great way to encourage sales and pick-up new leads, it will not work on the inner workings of your business – and to have a trusted advisor such as a Business Mentor can make all the difference. If you want more time to spend on collaboration and expanding your business, why not contact me for a complimentary session so we can work on growing your business without adding stress to your life.
