Maintaining job satisfaction whilst being your own boss

Job satisfaction is often something you refer to when you are talking about employees but why not the business owner?

When a business is first formed, there is a lot of enthusiasm. Passion for the project, large investment of time and money and people talk about enjoying what they do. When I often meet business owners later in their business life, some have lost the sense of what it was they enjoyed. And this is the reason I as a Business Mentor often start our conversation by discovering the why you started the business is in first place.

One of the things we often find is that business owners replace the ‘why’ with ‘should’

They get lost in what others think you ‘should’ get from running a business. This is a dangerous development as it makes you judge yourself and your success according to the opinion of others. This often leads to self-doubt, and it is not helpful to the growth of your business.

If a business takes an unforeseen journey and you as business owner are not sure where you want to take it, this opens for a lot of risk factors. Listen to other people’s opinions and gather inspiration for new ideas but do not judge yourself accordingly. Being satisfied with what you have and have achieved is a good thing and must be celebrated.

A Business Mentor is not out to judge your work or your business but here to support you in making decisions. Some of the decisions will take courage and others will seem relatively simple but the main goal of them is to grow your business and achieve your goals. Goals are not the same for everyone and must be relevant to you. So, if you are feeling a little stuck and want to relive some satisfaction from your business, why not use my offer of a complimentary session. Together we can make sure you live your why.
